In Web design unit 1 we learned to write a web page using a text editor. The web pages we produced were perfectly valid (but a little plain). The truth is web pages need more than just content. They also need style. To add style to a web page we create a stylesheet. We write style sheets in CSS, CS stanbds for Cascading style sheets. These are linked to a web page. A web page can have different style sheet sdepending on what device you are viewing them on.
Aims
This is an introduction to The web, and how to make content. The next unit - Web 2 will discuss how to incorporate style and behaviour into a web page.
By the end of this unit you will learn:
Level 4
(IT)Understands the potential of information technology for collaboration when computers are networked.
(IT)Uses criteria to evaluate the quality of solutions, can identify improvements making some refinements to the solution, and future solutions.
Level 5
(Communication and Networks) Can construct a web page using HTML
(IT)Designs criteria to critically evaluate the quality of solutions, uses the criteria to identify improvements and can make appropriate refinements to the solution.
Level 6
Designs criteria for users to evaluate the quality of solutions, uses the feedback from the users to identify improvements and can make appropriate refinements to the solution.
(Communications and Networks) Knows the names of hardware e.g. hubs, routers, switches, and the names of protocols e.g. SMTP, iMAP, POP, FTP, TCP/IP, associated with networking computer systems.
